Just some twisted philosophical musings!

Repeat and Fade.

Sleep was a dream for him,
dreams? He forgot what those were,
his eyes had new friends now,
like dew drops tenderly waiting on the early morning grass
to be stifled
under the familiar footsteps of an old man bereft of any rest
any sleep
for years he walked out of his house
before sunrise
as the clouds seemed to fade away in the
frightening darkness of the night
leaving a faint silver outline
as if playing hide and seek
as they slowly moved
dissipating, erasing
and regathering
sometimes leaving you to wonder
whether you believed what you saw
or saw what you believed?
whether your life summed up
in those misty eyes
Sheltered by the wrinkly folds of your eyelids
was a creation of your mind
or did it have a meaning, a purpose
after all
how can something so obvious
right there for you to see
it must be, it has to be,
make you so dubious
about its existence
where have they vanished,
those clouds,
they drifted away
changed their shape,
even their form
lost their identity
or perhaps,
transformed themselves to belong to the lofty business of nature
like you did to adopt and
to adapt
to the intricate ways of this
world
if there are any
or perhaps,
you were just a pebble thrown into the ocean
creating ripples as you went down
which faded into nothingness
to never be discovered.

It’s hard to tell
what caused the waves to rise
higher and higher

It’s simple, the tune
so melodious, like the soft balls of snow
that quietly settle in layers of white
barely noticed
making itself comfortable
in what seems like a cushion of permanence
and yet,
so transient, so mutable
the fear grips as the composition progresses
it becomes faster, more technical,
hitting the highest note with a pause
fingers tremble as they return delicately to their familiar place
to breeze in a new calmness, a soothing soft note,
a melancholy that he always wonders if surrounds only him,
as the rest watch in utter silence, it’s as if he was by himself all along,
but just before he plays that key, oh, he was almost there,
the cushion seems to have gone, the familiarity faded into self-doubt,
like the sun suddenly shines bright, and the sparkling snow that just seemed so sure of its whiteness,
turns around and changes its mind, as if it’s suddenly bored of settlement,
its timely arrival, as it rests in solitude, taken for granted,
Stifling to remain still, untouched
To glisten in its purity
and yet,
changing form,
minute after minute
his fingers tremble as he rethinks his purpose,
the loyalty of his audience,
what if he changed his mind, and played another note,
not so soft after all
what if he doesn’t return
who does he owe this loyalty to? This faith that they seem to bestow in him,
is a lie.
Must he flee without the harmonic cadence
suspend his hand in the air as a gesture of finality
wait for them to rise, applaud in bewilderment
for they must accept what he presents to them,
as they seemingly surrendered to his authority
and yet,
fingers floated in the air
and tenderly landed on that key
as he succumbed to their will
for the choice was never his
he was never the master
he was never the source of the music that filled that room
with nostalgia
With rules comes routine
and the routine makes you hymn the joy of familiarity
For he was not bold to face his fears
What if they didn’t return
What if this facade changed its shape,
he trembled at the thought of nearing the end
of his composition
and of his ‘self’

And nobody found out,
how the waves subside
and meet their end.

Through the Muzzle.

It’s a long tunnel

Out rolls a man

The wire mesh becomes tighter

More complex

Harder to extricate

Each stands on his own

Alone perhaps, in a bubble of oblivion

Some levels up or below

Some are ahead and some behind

One by one

Unwind, unravel

The mysterious ways

Are unique to each

Create, synthesise, process

Dream, realise, fathom

Is it one or more or all?

Is it a lone ride till the end?

He looks aghast, betrayed for his love was genuine

So was his companionship

But something was missing, like it was a misfit.

Restart, refresh, rewind

The question was always the same

Too thick to see

Now too tired to resist

Do dualities exist?
